MSI In the Community
MSI is committed to being an asset to communities where its employees work and live. These are just a sampling of the community relation activities and programs undertaken by MSI.
Junior Achievement
Every year, MSI sponsors three employee teams for the annual Junior Achievement (JA) Bowling Classic. The "Classic" is JA's premier fund raising event of the year. MSI joined dozens of other Omaha-area businesses to organize programs involving active employee participation in the Bowling Classic. Thousands of privately donated dollars are raised annually.
Junior Achievement (JA) will reach over 20,000 Omaha-area children this
year. It is driven by more than 700 adult role models who give children a
first-hand look at understanding how business and the US economy operates.
Through Junior Achievement, children learn about career opportunities and
their role in the future economy, becoming an entrepreneur the concept of
profit, and the importance of competition.
Day at the Ballpark
For the past 18 years IBM has sponsored hundreds of kids from the YTeens program of the YMCA to attend a College World Series baseball game. For the past seven years MSI has teamed up with IBM to continue this effort. 'A Day at the Ballpark' provides the kids with a ticket to the game, transportation to and from the game, food, and a College World Series T-shirt as a souvenir of the game.
YTeens programs include Y.P.L.U.S. (people learning unique skills) and YouthNet. Y.P.L.U.S. provides education, athletics, leadership training, mentoring and other programs to help teens develop personally and socially. Teen communities at the YMCA branches provide safe and fun places to do things with friends. YouthNet is a network of services which includes mentoring, activities and professional counseling. The goal of YouthNet is to provide early intervention services to middle-school youth and their families.
For many of these kids this is a once in a lifetime experience, MSI is proud to be a part of this program.
