MSI In the Community

MSI is committed to being an asset to communities where its employees work and live. We support social responsibility through volunteerism and community support.

Many MSI employees are involved in charities, donating either their time or monetary gifts through our MSI Matching Gift program and the MSI Volunteer Paid Time Off program. Below are highlights of MSI efforts:

YMCA: Day at the Ballpark

For the past 19 years, IBM sponsored hundreds of kids from the YTeens program of the YMCA to attend a College World Series baseball game. MSI got involved 12 years ago with the ‘Day at the Ballpark' which provides the kids with a ticket, transportation, food, and a College World Series T-shirt as a souvenir. In 2008, MSI was recognized as Community Development Volunteers of the Year by the YMCA Association at a luncheon at the Scott Conference Center in Omaha.

The joint effort allows hundreds of teens from the Yteens Program of YMCA to attend. The YTeens programs include Y.P.L.U.S. (people learning unique skills) which provides education, athletics, leadership training, mentoring and other programs to help teens develop personally and socially. YouthNet is a network of services which includes mentoring, activities and professional counseling.

MSI Matching Gift Program

With the MSI Matching Gift Program, MSI matches up to $75 per employee, per Fiscal Year, to any eligible charity of the employee’s choice.

Junior Achievement

Every year, MSI sponsors employee teams for the annual Junior Achievement (JA) Bowling Classic. The Classic is JA's premier fund raising event of the year. MSI joins dozens of other Omaha-area businesses to organize programs involving active employee participation in the Bowling Classic. Thousands of privately donated dollars are raised annually.

Junior Achievement (JA) will reach over 20,000 Omaha-area children this year. It is driven by more than 700 adult role models who give children a first-hand look at understanding how business and the US economy operates.

Volunteer Paid Time Off Program

The Volunteer Paid Time Off Program allows MSI employees an extra eight hours of paid time off for volunteering. The choice to take this extra eight hours allotted to volunteering is that of the employee and employees can use the hours to donate time to a place of their own choice, or they can work it out as a team event.
