MSI Named Technology Company of the Year at Nebraska Technology Celebration Banquet
MSI Systems Integrators (MSI) was named Technology Company of the Year at the 6th Annual Nebraska Technology Celebration Banquet
[Omaha, Neb. - May 3, 1999] - Midland Systems, Inc. (MSI), an Omaha-based systems integrator and technology services provider with offices throughout the Midwest, was named Technology Company of the Year at the 6th Annual Nebraska Technology Celebration Banquet held Tuesday April 27, 1999, at the Holiday Convention Centre in Omaha.
In advance of the banquet - which coincided with INFOTEC, an annual information technology exposition and trade show - an independent panel of judges provided the recommendation for the award recipient in each category. Nominations for Technology Company of the Year were open to all firms in Nebraska that receive more than half their revenue from technology-related products or services or create at least half their value-added services through the application of technology.
Jeff Sauvageau, MSI president, said the award was gratifying, and that he accepted it on behalf of all MSI employees and customers. "Personal relationships are key to the success of any business," he said, "but especially in the technology industry where so much of what we do is impersonal - yet our focus is communication. Our clients' trust in us has allowed us to be very good at what we do, and they, along with our very dedicated employees, deserve the credit for this award and our success."
Sauvageau also said he was pleased to be selected for the award by a panel of industry peers. "To know that others in our industry appreciate our efforts and believe that the way our company operates is worthy of recognition is really wonderful. Achieving an award of this nature sets the bar for everything that drives our future success," he said.
Selection was based on the nominees' contributions, either through sustained performance or a special notable achievement, to Nebraska's worldwide reputation for excellence and innovation in information technology. The evaluation criteria for Technology Company of the Year includes meeting objectives in three areas: a standard measure of success as reflected in corporate revenue; the corporation's public image and impact on the community through its technological success; and corporate commitment to the growth and development of its employees.
The award was presented to Sauvageau by Dr. Tom McClung, Interim Dean of the University of Nebraska at Omaha, College of Information Science and Technology, and an AIM Board Representative. Dr. McClung said, "In 1998 MSI was recognized as Omaha's fastest growing business by the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce. Then, as now, they strive to be worthy of the highest praise from their customers and clients."
MSI not only believes strongly in its customers' success, Dr. McClung said. "MSI believes in the success of its employees, too. The company strongly supports education, training certification and community involvement. They have multiple IT specialists and maintain current certification within the vendor areas of AS400, RS6000, System390 and Open Systems Storage. In addition to encouraging and supporting certifications, MSI lists a wide variety of additional technical and professional credits and training. They support the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Open Door Mission, the College World Series, the Child Saving Institute and Cooper Village."
The Nebraska Technology Celebration Banquet was sponsored by the Applied Information Management (AIM) Institute, a membership organization that supports and promotes business development related to information technology. Based in Omaha, the not-for-profit corporation is a consortium of local and regional businesses, area colleges and universities, secondary school districts, the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, and the State of Nebraska.
