MSI and Cassling Partner to Help Hospitals Improve Workflow and Storage
Cassling Diagnostic Imaging Clinical Networking LLC, the networking subsidiary of Cassling Diagnostic Imaging, and MSI Systems Integrators have entered into an agreement to deliver PACS Blue
[Omaha, Neb. - September 10, 2003] - Cassling Diagnostic Imaging Clinical Networking LLC, the networking subsidiary of Cassling Diagnostic Imaging, and MSI Systems Integrators have entered into an agreement to deliver PACS Blue™, a comprehensive PACS solution for health-care organizations looking to digitize medical records and remain compliant with the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
PACS Blue transitions hospitals from a film to a digital environment, enabling faster retrieval of patient records and secure data storage. This unique solution includes the software, hardware, integration services, and various financing options to assist organizations with the switch to a filmless environment. PACS Blue uses leading-edge Siemens SIENET™ PACS medical imaging solutions from CDI and IBM storage technologies from MSI for a quick and effective transition.
"Our goal is to enable hospitals to improve their workflow by offering them flexible, scalable, open systems that deter product obsolescence and allow for future expansion," said Mike Cassling, president and CEO of CDI Clinical Networking. "All solutions are standards-based and are designed to help facilities increase their efficiency by decreasing the time from diagnosis to treatment. Ultimately, we work to improve patient care."
Hospitals face increasing demands from governmental regulations, staffing shortages and budget constraints. The American Hospital Association reports an average vacancy rate for radiologic technologist positions at 15.3 percent; the highest recorded of any hospital profession. PACS helps alleviate that strain by increasing workflow efficiency. According to ImagingEconomics, physicians in a filmless environment reported up to a 58 percent increase in work efficiency in comparison to film-based operations at other facilities.
PACS Blue grants organizations virtually immediate access to digital images. Workstations and web access can be established throughout the hospital, at referring physicians' offices and at the radiologist's home. PACS technology greatly reduces the time from scan to diagnosis, a patient's length of hospital stay and improves patient care.
"All medical facilities are continuing to feel the manpower and financial crunch resulting from increasing patient loads due to an aging population, reduced reimbursements from Medicare and health maintenance organizations (HMOs), as well as staffing shortages," said Craig Nelson, vice president of storage for MSI. "PACS Blue will help alleviate those pains while increasing the reliability and speed at which critical patient information can be accessed utilizing state-of-the-art technologies available from Siemens and IBM."
